Farm News: July 3, 2017

Dear CSA members and farm friends,

Welcome to Week 13 of our 20-week Spring and Summer CSA season. Can you believe that it is already July? I have been receiving emails about our 4th of July CSA pickup schedule. If you are a Tupelo shareholder, things will proceed as normal. The farm stand will be open from 2:00-6:00 p.m. for CSA pickup and extra sales. If you are an Oxford shareholder, we will be delivering Tuesday to the market but the pickup time has changed. Shares will be available from 9:00-12:00 a.m. at the OXCM pavilion. If you are on unable to pickup your share on Tuesday, please email ASAP to let me know, and we will switch Tupelo members to a Thursday pickup and Oxford members to pickup at the Mid-Town Market on Saturday.

In the share this week (best guess):

  • potatoes
  • sweet onions
  • basil
  • tomatoes
  • Sungold tomatoes
  • heirloom tomatoes
  • beans
  • Shishito peppers
  • purple bell peppers
  • eggplant
  • cantaloupe

We are looking forward to an incredible July on the farm and are anxiously awaiting new crops of squash, zucchini, cucumbers, corn, okra, sunflowers, peppers, tomatoes and winter squash.

On top of all the harvest hustle and bustle we are also getting things rolling for the start of our Fall CSA planting. Fall storage crops of sweet potatoes and butternut squash are in the ground, and we are starting to order seed and greenhouse supplies for our first fall seedings of broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and kale.

Look for our new online CSA sign up platform to launch next week and as always please let us know how you think we could improve the CSA and your experience as a member.

Thanks,
Will
