farming with passion
welcome to native son farm
Breaking ground on a 3/4 acre garden in 2010, Will and Amanda Reed began farming with the intention of building a community with a naturally grown farm at its center, in Tupelo, Mississippi. With lots of hard work, perseverance, and help from friends and family, the vision has grown to include 20 acres on two locations, feeding thousands of Mississippi families in 2025. Our extensive use of high tunnels, cover crops, and cutting-edge organic methods, combined with many tried-and-true practices of the past, allows us to produce the highest quality produce that is free from synthetic chemicals. Our mission is to revolutionize the way people eat by relocalizing the food system, proving that regenerative farming is not only sustainable but a viable and fulfilling career. We are committed to creating meaningful jobs, restoring the health of our land, and delivering truly nourishing food to our community—because real change begins at the roots. We invite you to take a tour of our farm!

WHERE WE CAME FROM
Will Reed, a Tupelo native, became interested in farming while living off the grid in California in 2006. After graduating from Humboldt State University in 2009, Will moved back to Tupelo to begin Native Son Farm with the intention of changing the food and farming landscape of the area. Will loves farming, food, and his family. He is a Board Member of the Tupelo Hunger Coalition and is one of the State’s leading practitioners of organically-minded vegetable production.

Amanda Reed grew up off the grid in Thetford, Vermont. As a child, self-sufficiency and living off the land were basic family values. This instilled in her an interest in farming for production. She met Will at Humboldt State University, where she received a degree in Childhood Development. After graduation, she joined Will in Tupelo to begin Native Son Farm. Will and Amanda are joined on the farm by a full-time farm crew and their daughters, Magnolia Jane, Juniper Rose, Olive Lark, Iris Frost, and William Ray (Wiley).

WHAT WE GROW
First and foremost, we are a farm growing beyond organic fruits and vegetables 52 weeks a year. Our extensive use of high tunnels, cover crops, and cutting-edge organic methods, combined with many tried-and-true practices of the past, allows us to produce the highest quality produce that is free from synthetic chemicals. In addition to our diversified production, we also work with a network of other local small-scale family farmers to provide a full local diet from our farmstand. Our regenerative vegetable farm also feeds our full-time on-farm kitchen, where we produce healthy take-and-bake and grab-and-go meals. We also produce a full line of truly nourishing, naturally fermented breads and baked goods. And because we also believe fully in the power of dessert, we offer fresh-baked giant cookies, sweet breads, muffins, and pastries.

TESTIMONIALS
The produce and home cooked goods are phenomenal! Will and Amanda are wonderfully pleasant people who are doing a great community service with this organic farm. Some say it is pricey, but as in life, you usually “get what you pay for.” I’ve never gotten a bad piece of produce or product here.
PEGGY HUSSEY
This was our first time to visit today. I am so sad that I did not know sooner that this place existed. I am very impressed and very excited that we have discovered this place we will definitely be back. They have lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and bakery items. We bought these beautiful fresh flowers from some young ladies selling them out front.
MISTY DANIELS
I absolutely love this place! They have the best organic food and produce. They also make fresh bread, muffins, cookies, etc. My favorite is the sausage, egg, and cheese scone. They are honestly the best I've ever tasted, cooked to perfection! They have a variety of meats as well. If you are looking for a healthier alternative, I suggest you at least go check them out. You won't be disappointed.

Our perennially popular Community Supported Agriculture program is the backbone of our small, beyond-organic family farm. Started in 2012, the CSA program offers you a great opportunity to connect with our farm and the joys of seasonal eating on a deeper level. The CSA represents a great value for those who like to cook at home and enjoy some adventure in their weekly meal plans. We offer two CSA programs throughout the year. Our Spring Summer program begins in early April and lasts throughout the spring and summer seasons. As a CSA member, you’ll receive a bit of everything that we grow. Strawberries in the Spring, Tomatoes in the Summer, and a variety of crops in between. Our Fall-Winter program begins in October and lasts through mid-December. During the fall and winter months, our members enjoy delicious lettuces, greens, root vegetables, and more.
