We have just wrapped up another very successful Spring/Summer CSA season

Good morning y'all,

We have just wrapped up another very successful Spring/Summer CSA season, it feels like Fall in August and I feel like I am sitting on top of the world. It is amazing how much the weather can influence my attitude and these cooler temps are ideal not just for my spirits but also for the work that we have in store for the week. We are still picking lots of produce for the Farmstand and markets- squash, okra, zucchini, peppers, eggplant, smaller red and cherry tomatoes etc..but we are also working on getting the tunnels and fields cleaned up before starting next week's soil steaming project and we are doing lots of seeding and planting for Fall. Today we are pulling off the giant silage tarps off of our fields that have been smothering weeds in advance of the miles of carrots we are soon to seed, we have our next round of summer squash transplants going into the ground and we are starting the process of filling hundreds of greenhouse flats for all of the seeds that will be sown tomorrow. The work that we are focused on now is setting the stage for the Fall and Winter crops to come. Now is the perfect time to get signed up for your Fall CSA share.

The Fall share is a great value, it will run for ten consecutive weeks starting the first week of October and the cost for the full ten week season will be $360. We have pickup options available in Tupelo and Oxford. Aside from all of the picking, planting and cleaning I have also been working to buy in produce to keep the Farmstand stocked and humming for you. The veggie van is on the way home from the mountains of North Carolina and we will be stocked tomorrow with the local organic veggies we are picking and with non-organic but very fresh and quality produce from a few family farmers in Western North Carolina. Tomorrow we should have available-heirloom tomatoes, green beans, apples, pickling cucumbers, blackberries, sweet corn, potatoes, cabbage and more.. We will plan to keep the Farmstand open as long as y'all keep coming out to see us this week and the trips to the mountains help to keep the party rolling even after our summer season has passed its peak. We will also have Cherry Creek orchard peaches, MS watermelons and cantaloupe and locally grown just shelled purple hull peas for you in the stand as well this week.

The kitchen crew is rocking and rolling as always and will have the usual selection of from scratch, healthy, nutritious and delicious items all prepared and made daily with love and care. Thanks for following along, we will look forward to seeing you this week.

There is not currently a hard deadline to sign up for the Fall share but signing up early helps us to prepare and plan, we are keeping our prices on the CSA the same as in the past but costs for our own organic vegetable production continue to rise, if you want to participate, please swing by the Farmstand and let us know. If you are ready to pay, we much prefer a check to a credit card as we don't pay any additional fees when you pay by check.

Thanks for reading,

Will Reed
